Rinat Fakhretdinov Seeks Ranked Opponent Following Victory Over Nicolas Dalby at UFC on ABC 6
Rinat Fakhretdinov emerged victorious against Nicolas Dalby at UFC on ABC 6 last Saturday, but the outcome wasn’t as decisive as he had hoped. Despite being heavily favored, Fakhretdinov found himself challenged by the resilient underdog, Dalby, who nearly overturned expectations once again. In a closely contested bout, Fakhretdinov secured a split-decision win, although many felt the result could have swung either way.
Reflecting on his performance, Fakhretdinov expressed a desire for a more emphatic victory, admitting he aimed for a finish. He acknowledged Dalby’s formidable skills, praising him as the most underrated fighter in the welterweight division, given his impressive four-fight winning streak.
“I’m satisfied with the fight itself but not entirely with the result,” Fakhretdinov shared with Red Corner MMA. “I wanted a more definitive win. Dalby proved to be a tough opponent, and now I understand why he’s been on such a streak. He’s solid.”
Fakhretdinov admitted surprise at Dalby’s unexpected strength, attributing it to opponents tiring out rather than pressure tactics. He noted Dalby’s unique breathing technique but was prepared for it, emphasizing instead the Danish fighter’s physical resilience.
Discussing his future plans, Fakhretdinov called out Neil Magny for a showdown at UFC on ABC 7 in Abu Dhabi on August 3rd.
“Neil Magny, let’s do this in Abu Dhabi!” Fakhretdinov declared.
Despite his undefeated record in the UFC, Fakhretdinov’s career has seen its challenges, notably a majority draw against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in November 2023, marking his only non-victory since his professional debut in 2013.
